[Xzana was finally convinced that the sudden and strange influx of humans was really done and began emerging from the bottom of the lake more and more. Between feeling less crowded and the heavy rain she is in a remarkably good mood.

She dances in the rain for a bit and climbs a few trees. Then finally checks out that strange book that is always following her around. She had been told it was magic, but being unable to read it's never been something she cared much about. That is until she realized it talks! Listen to all the different voices!

Huh, but then the voices pause. She gives the book a shake. Huh, how do you get this silly thing to work. She drops it on the ground and bats at it. Managing to turn the video function on by mistake. She bounces back and forth for the camera in the rain. Prodding the book now and then.]

Talk magic book! [She circles the book, waiting for it to respond.] Speak again! [She gives it a gentle shove before jumping back a bit and running from it a bit before coming back.] Are you tired, book?

[Today she is full of energy and wanting to play. She'll be in possibly the best mood if anyone feels like braving the heavy rain and spot her playing with the book near the lake.]

[Not exactly.]

Because -- [He gestures to himself.] Not enough.

Kappa numbers were still strong where I am from.

[Don shakes his head, then makes a gesture, tapping his plastron and pointing to three segments of empty air. Only four, where I'm from.]

[She gets the head shake. So in his world Kappas are weakening. Then he goes and shakes his fingers around. Very strange Kappa, maybe it was mentally slow from mix breeding. That happened to some dragon pups she grew up with, although they didn't tend to make it to adulthood.]

Where is your den, Kappa?

[She's curious to see if this Kappa will actually lead her there. It will be useful to know where to avoid or where to attack if this Kappa ever tries anything.]

[No he's not going to lead you to his house. 8| He just gestures in the general direction.]

In the what!? [Isn't villain the human word for someone bad?]

Among the humans? I know of humans that are acceptable to those not of them, but never living within their territory.

[Once he would have said the same thing, but not anymore.]

No, but they are rightfully fearful. [She has nothing against humans.] Most demons and creatures are stronger than they except in their numbers. The humans here really allow you to claim territory among theirs?

A human who lives in the water? [What? Kappas that she knows live in and around water, not houses!]

Um... no. [He draws the outline of a house in the air.]

[There he goes with the weird finger movements again!] Are you trying to cast a spell on me!?

[Surprised, Don takes a step back and gives Xzana a "what kind of question is that" look. Are you unaware of charades?]

[What is charades? Either way, he didn't answer her. WHICH COULD MEAN A YES! She growls slightly and takes her own step back. Maybe he has been acting this whole time to lure her into trying to lower her guard near him!]

[Don has no idea what just happened. He holds up his hands placatingly - see, he has weapons, but he isn't going to use them. Okay?]

[She grumbles low in her throat as she speaks.] Don't try to cast any spells on me, Kappa.

[About the best he can do is redirect some of this rain to make Xzana even wetter - though it seems that wouldn't work on her anyway.]

It will not be easy to trick me. [She's actually probably like it. She loves the rain.] It is very foolish to try to trick a water nymph during heavy rain. Even a half blood. You will do well to remember that.

[He will definitely add that to his limited knowledge about water nymphs. Even though he still isn't sure what triggered this defensiveness.]

[Don backs up another step. Maybe he should just go?]

[He can if he wishes. She calms down a bit now that she's put her foot down on using the whole magic thing around her.

If you use magic around the humans it would probably make them nervous.
