[Normally one who sleeps away the winter months, Xzana has once again opted to move into human housing so that she can be awake during it. So long as she keeps warm enough she shouldn't fall asleep and as long as she has the thing called a bathtub she can suit her needs of being submerged for long periods of time.
However, a bathtub is much more cramped than the lake she is use to during warmer weather and she simply must get out once in awhile. Today she has decided to chance spending a little time outside. She's a bit hesitant at first, seeing the white drops falling from the sky, but after a little longer she starts to have some fun.
She prances about, kicking up snow in her bare, clawed feet. Wearing nothing but a flora dress she found randomly at the clothing shop she's a bit odd to see around. She'll spend time skating through the rivers that run through the village as she makes her way to the grocery store. She'll eat her fill of some of the raw meat there before carrying an arm full of it back to the ground building. At least being alone on the top floor means it shouldn't smell too bad when that meat slowly starts to rot.
Feeling full and happy she opens her journal to speak into it. Still full of energy, but not wanting to spend more time outside and chance freezing into place. The one winter she had spent awake in her homeland her friend Casimir would read from his books.]
Humans. Have you any stories to share? I do not mind if they are long ones. Perhaps ones of battle and victories? [Those were always exciting.]

Re: [ voice ]
The one about the great Star Fleet Captain that saved his entire crew from a lightning storm in space.
[ The story about his dad. Not that he said that's who it was, but it was his favorite. He whispered it to himself at night as a kid, even though as an adult he had balked the man's legacy for quite awhile. ]

Re: [ voice ]
Heh, sure. On other planets. See, some of those stars you see in the night sky? They have planets orbiting them, and they're just right for supporting life - like the one you live on. But to get to these other planets, you have to travel to them in big ships.
[ voice ]
Big ships? There is a waterway that leads to the sky?
Re: [ voice ]
Not a waterway - no water involved. It all has to do with thrust and mass and a bunch of physics. But if it helps, yeah, the stars are the water and my ship is, well, a ship and space is our ocean.

Re: [ voice ]
Yeah, that's another good description. Think of it like that, but much, much, much higher! Higher than any bird has ever flown.

Re: [ voice ]
Well, see, my ship, it doesn't have openings. The environment is controlled inside, so we can control the temperature and keep from getting to hot or to cold.
[ voice ]
Re: [ voice ]
No, no it has doors and windows, but they can be sealed and unsealed so we can control the temperature.
[ voice ]
Temperature... so you control the wind?
Re: [ voice ]
Hmm, no, that's not what temperature is. Temperature is how hot or cold something is, so we can control how hot and how cold the surrounding air is in our ship.

Re: [ voice ]
Haha, nope. See, they're actually all very far apart, and they're really big, so we see them long before we ever run into them.

Re: [ voice ]
It's because you see them from far, far away. You know how if you look down a row of houses, the ones at the end seem closer together than the ones in front and near you? It's the same thing.

Re: [ voice ]
So it's just like that! Except, these stars are so far apart that even so far away, they still look like they have quite a bit of space between them.
[ voice ]
[Not that she isn't trying. Her gruff voice sounding as dreamy as it could possibly go. Is there really that much room above her head?]
Then do you know why the stars are trapped in the sky and are only able to fall from the sky while the sun has returned each rise?
Re: [ voice ]
Well, the sky isn't really... the sky. I mean, it is the sky, but space is just that - space. Empty space. The stars are dense balls of gas held together through gravity and pressure. And the sun isn't actually moving - it's the earth that is. The earth, like a star, is a dense ball of mass held together through pressure and gravity, and it rotates around the sun and also turns in a circle itself. So when the sun goes down, it's really just the earth rotating enough so that that side of the earth is not facing the sun.
[ Was that 101 enough? He wasn't sure... ]
[ voice ]
I do not think I will ever be able to understand the world as you humans do. Where the sky is only called the sky.
Re: [ voice ]
I guess I'll skip the whole levels of the atmosphere stuff then.

[Granted, it wasn't all that easy.]
See, every year they host this event called the Best Young Flier's competition. Pegasus ponies gather from all over to show off their awesome, show stopping stunts. I had big plans to show off a Sonic Rainboom, but when my pal Fluttershy couldn't even give a half-decent cheer, the rest of my friends decided to tag along.
The problem is, only pegasus ponies can walk on clouds. Lucky for me, Twilight's an egghead. She had this spell to give ponies wings... and just walk on clouds. I guess she only had enough magic to give my pal Rarity wings... and maybe that wasn't such a bright idea in the long run.
[She'll let her soak that in before continuing. No need to overwhelm her with all the details at once, after all!]

Reading can be helpful to some, but I can not read at all. If she was able to use her skills in order to create wings she seems like an incredible Pegasus.

[But while she's on the subject...]
So, when my friends came up to Cloudsdale, Rarity had this flashy set of butterfly wings, and everypony kept gawking at her, which just fueled her ego and made her enter the Best Young Flier competition. It was totally uncool, because I'd been practicing so hard to impress the judges! We're talking nonstop training with slick maneuvers only a real athlete could pull off.
I mean, I'm not mad at her now, but back then it was stressful. Maybe even a little scary. The worst part? We both wound up having to perform at the exact same time, and when Rarity flew up towards the sun to show off her wings, they burned right off, and she fell straight through the clouds.
It was a disaster!
[Not just because of the performance, but because it put one of Dash's closest friends in danger. Rarity may've gotten big headed, but that didn't stop Dash from caring.
But she'll get to those details soon.]

[She can't help but chuckle at the mental image.]
'Course, I wasn't about to let one of my best friends become a pancake on the ground, so I rushed right after her, kicking up speed to make sure they all made it out okay. And the best part? Just as I reached them, I pulled off a Sonic Rainboom! I guess all it took was a little motivation.
And by the time it all ended, I wound up winning the competition, Rarity and I made up, and I even got to spend a whole day with the Wonderbolts! It was awesome.

I am glad that you and your clan were able to get along together once again. It is important to stay strong together.

I'd show you if that stupid power cap wasn't in the way. It seriously slows me down.
